Musical Parenting

All of us are gifted with the musical ability, both grown ups and your babies! What we do not realize is that music is connected with all spheres of development; what you do in one area will support the other. Different types of intelligence and personalities predisposes us to connect in different ways, all of which are valuable and valid. Using music, become your child’s best teacher.

Respectful Approach to Motor Development and Infants (RIE Inspired)

Inspired by the RIE and Pikler Approaches, this interactive workshop shares the most common “natural” gross and fine motor development in infants from birth to 12 months. Understanding how your baby moves in various physical stages can help parents observe, with delight, how remarkable is your child’s progress in her first 12 months. We will also discuss how movement milestones relate to brain and socio-emotional development.

In this 45 minute session + tea time, babies are welcome to join, and move freely in the middle of the room, this talk is mainly for adults, and is NOT a parent-child activity.

*Please note that while babies are welcome to join, it is NOT a parent-child activity. As the approach used advocates for natural development, children will be allowed to quietly roam around the room with as little disturbance as possible. Adults will be encouraged to move in order to understand the topic through the infant’s perspective, so please wear comfortable clothing.

Dates: May 16, 1-2pm at Wan Chai; May 18, 11am-12pm at Harbour City

Respectful Approach to Infant Care (RIE Inspired)

* What is a respectful approach for infants?

* The value of quiet observation

* Cooperative Caregiving routines - an overview on caregiving, according to a RIE-inspired approach: bathing, feeding, dressing, diapering

* Infant Interactions and Play

*This activity is geared for parents and caregivers of infants 0-12 months, or expecting parents. Please note that it is not necessary for the child to join, though they are welcome in the room.

Speech and Language Development

In order for speech and language to develop, parents must allow their children to experience moments from which the child builds up her speech capacity according to her development plan. Because language development is part of the child's overall development, it means all kinds of environmental experiences (movement, emotions,  interpersonal  communication and problem solving) come together. For supporting the development of your child, language is best learned in a positive, happy atmosphere and in conjunction with child-friendly play.

Learn and develop ideas on how to support your child’s language while we put this into practice! All parents are asked to bring their baby’s favourite toy. We will experience the most effective ways and will provide tips that can help parents support their child's language development. Bring your baby along as you will experience the world from the perspective of a child.

This class is for babies up to 1.5 years. Each child may be accompanied by at the most, 2 adults (maximum 8 children, 16 adults per class). It is a 45 minute workshop with 15 minutes allotted to personal questions from clients regarding speech and language development.

Please do not forget to bring a toy for your baby! This will be used during the workshop.

Dates: May 7, 11am-12pm at Harbour City; May 15, 1-2pm at Wan Chai

We are looking forward to seeing all of you this May, and to learning and bonding with you and your baby!
